After the war, the surviving and captured Bf 109 were scattered over he whole world. They spent their time in museums, with private collectors or just rotting somewhere. There are only three still flying "original" Bf 109 - once being the most produced fighter-plane ever - left, worldwide. Also some airworthy replicas keep up the legend of the "Messerschmitt".
