As every plane, the "Bf 109"
also could be used as fighter-bomber. In 1940 the first fighter-bomber
version, the "Bf 109 E-4 b", was put in service. It could carry one single
250 kg bomb, four 50 kg bombs or 96 2 kg bombs.
This early fighter-bomber
version was re-equipped by front hangars of the "Bf 109 E-4".
In the "Bf 109 G" serie
all versions could be re-equipped to a fighter-bomber by two mechanics,
because all necesary technical and electric requirements were allready
installed during the production process. This fitting took time about one
hour time.
Because of improved bomb
racks the bombload later could be increased to 500 kg.
